Adapting to the needs of families

Our Family Support Program provides flexible and tailored support to enrolled children, youth, parents, carers and family units to help improve their current and long-term wellbeing. Through this program, we empower families to become capable, confident and connected family units.

The Girls & Boys Brigade is our safe place in a big city. It makes a huge difference between being able to connect or being isolated.

Tailored Support

The Family Support Program allows enrolled families to access one-on-one support in times of need. It provides tailored support, advocacy, referrals and parent education workshops. Our Family Support Coordinator is a trusted face for families to turn to, no matter what the challenge. We assist families on a range of topics including housing, education, employment, navigation of government and community services, health challenges and family relationships.

Pantry Program

The Pantry Program distributes free, healthy staples every week to supplement a family’s weekly shop and relieve food stress. The take-what-you-need service is set up in the Brigade lobby and provides an interactive space for the community to come together. Here, families can connect, exchange ideas and support each other.

We also home deliver essential grocery packs when needed.

Family Dinner Nights

Family Dinner Nights happen once a month. Our families come together at the Brigade to share a healthy two-course meal. These nights bring together the members of our community, alleviating isolation and loneliness by allowing them to connect with others in their community and foster friendships and belonging.
