TYPES OF GIFTS YOU CAN LEAVE
There are numerous ways to support The Girls & Boys Brigade in your Will. We recommend you seek legal advice from your solicitor.
- A residuary gift – Leave a percentage of your remaining estate after you have provided for your loved ones. This means you are less likely to need to update your Will if the value of your estate rises or falls.
- A percentage of your overall estate
- A lump sum
We suggest the most effective way to leave a legacy is through a residuary gift. It allows you to provide for your loved ones and support The Girls & Boys Brigade with your remaining estate.
To include a residuary gift in your will, we suggest the following wording:
“I give to The Trustee for The Girls & Boys Brigade Foundation ABN 37 142 341 507 the balance and residue of my estate to be used for the general purposes of the Foundation.”
Why John B Fairfax, AO supports the Brigade with a Gift in Will
John’s family have shared a long history and strong connection with The Girls & Boys Brigade since the very beginning, more than 139 years ago. Over the years, John has seen how children, less fortunate than others, have had their lives transformed through the generosity of Brigade supporters.
“It has always been my intention to leave a gift to the Brigade in my Will. The organisation has done enormously good things for girls and boys in the Surry Hills area, and it continues to provide comfort, respite and encouragement for children less fortunate than many.”
– John B. Fairfax AO
All gifts, no matter how big or small, can significantly impact a child’s life for generations to come
In 2016 & 2017, a generous gift left in their Wills by the late Eric Dare and George E. Foster to The Girls & Boys Brigade now provides funding for all administration costs. Today, 100% of donations to the Brigade provide care and support to children in need, which will carry on for many years to come.
