“Give our Kids a Helping Hand” Trivia Night
On the 22nd July 2010, Sydney Boys High School was the venue for an entertaining Trivia Night. Our thanks to the Table Captains who gathered their teams and during the course of the evening battled against each other to claim the “winners” title! To add to the atmosphere, teams could, at a cost, “hire a guru” to assist with tricky questions and during the night the “Judge”, Henry Herron heard lively challenges from guests about the accuracy of some answers!
We were extremely grateful to Andrew Coorey, a top Australian Corporate MC and Trivia Quizmaster who gave his time to host the evening. The fun filled night, with great food, games, raffle and a live and silent auction resulted in a net profit of $40,000.
STRINGS IN THE STABLE
On the 28th November, 2010 we were delighted to be the recipient of $17,776, raised through Strings in the Stable, an annual classical music and picnic day held by Peter and Trish Murray on their beautiful property in Jamberoo. The friendly welcome and generosity of Peter and Trish provided the perfect atmosphere for a fabulous day. With guests nestled in the stable and the steady rain adding to the atmosphere, the wonderful classical sound of Anna Albert and Bellezza Strings was enchanting. Guests enjoyed their picnic lunches and then a fun live auction and raffle was held to complete a most enjoyable day.
We would like to sincerely thank Peter and Trish Murray for organising the event, the guests for sharing in such a special day and the number of individuals who contributed towards the auction and raffle.
CITY TO SURF
On the 8th August 2010 the challenge was on for Brigade staff members Tracy Clifton and Sarah Ison to complete the Sun Herald City to Surf. As we set our sights on the finish line we also raised $1,395 for the Brigade through Everyday Hero, an increasingly popular fundraising website. After a cold morning standing on the start line we set off in the back of the pack, even after the winners had reached Bondi! We were determined for this not to dampen our spirits and we commenced our assault on the course. Bondi looked very inviting as we crossed the finish line approximately 2hours later, tired but satisfied that we had risen to the challenge with our sights set on 2011!
